What a great turnout for the December PHP User Group - I counted about 40 people. Not bad considering our first BostonPHP meeting (January 2005) consisted of ~5 people. Glad to see the Boston PHP community thriving (we currently have 250+ members signed up on the websites), and hope to continue our growth into 2006.
As I mentioned during the meeting, we currently operate under the benevolent dictator model, however, I would love to abdicate the throne and encourage anyone interested in participating in the organization to jump in. Some ideas might be:
- Organizing training events
- Promoting BostonPHP
- Providing presentations/ideas
- Coordinating sponsorship
- Anything else you can think of
Thanks to the following 2005 BostonPHP presenters..
- David Boloker - IBM/Zend/PHP relationship
- Stephen Walli - Under the Hood: Open Source Business Models in Context
- Chris Shiflet - PHP Security Audit
- Justin Hannus - OPFX framework
- Cliff Hirsch - Moderator, "Ask the expert it may be you"
- Kaj Kandler - Mambo
- Chuck Hagenbuch - HORDE and OO design patterns
- Gabe Ricard - pear, pecl and Smarty
- Mark Withington -osCommerce and the Zend IDE
(PS - your name can appear here for 2006 please contact us!)
Please be sure to sign up for the upcoming meetings as BostonPHP starts off 2006 with a star-studded roster
January - Mastering Content Management with Joomla! (Mitch Pirtle, Joomla! core developer);
February - AJAX: thick client feel in a thin client wrapper (Adam Peller - IBM, Max Carlson - OpenLazlo, Steve Zimmerman - Optaros, Gabe Ricard - iMaxWebSolutions.com);
Hope that everyone has a happy and safe holiday season.
Cheers,
Mark
