MediaWiki bookInterested in MediaWiki and how you can use it in production?  Please join BostonPHP, Greg Rundlett and Daniel Barrett (author of O'Reilly's MediaWiki, right) as they discuss both tactical and strategic perspectives you should think about when deploying MediaWiki.

Greg:

  • Do you want to know how to use MediaWiki - either standalone, or as a wikipedian?
  • Do you want to know more about how the system works, including how to theme it?
  • Do you want to know how to configure/administer it in certain ways - meaning what extensions do you need to do X?
  • Do you want to know what extensions are, and how you can develop your own custom functionality in MediaWiki?
  • Do you want to hear about what's going on in the MW community and new developments such as semantic MediaWiki?

Dan:

  • Why the corporate environment is different from running a wiki on the Net
  • Integrating MediaWiki with existing infrastructure
  • Your "wiki admin" job will be 20% technology, 40% process, 40% people
  • Overcoming anti-wiki bias
  • Measuring your wiki's success to make managers happy
