			<title>July User Group:: The ultimate PHP &quot;date night&quot;... Debugging and a movie</title>

			<description>Demystify the MVC workflow with Xdebug

Xdebug
is an open source debugging extension for PHP. It&amp;#39;s remote debugger tool lets
developers interactively walk through a PHP code at run time and look under the hood of the program in real time - stop at
break-points, step into a function, step out of it, change variable values,
and test expressions.

This month, Eliran Boraks will talk about setting Xdebug, discuss and show different
debugging features, configure Xdebug remote debugger to work with
Eclipse/Aptana
IDEs, and for dessert we will use it to demystify the MVC
workflow.

Technology as a socializing tool

Please Join BostonPHP and Grace Shulner for an unofficial screening of her [32 minute] short movie: Predictable, But Fun (http://predictablebutfun.com/) (based on her research at M.I.T, Media Laboratory). The movie explores technology as a socializing
tool, and the narrative is told by wedding-gown designers out of Israel
and Palestine.

			<title>BostonPHP 2009</title>
			<link>http://www.bostonphp.org/content/view/120/9/</link>
			<description>
With 2008 winding down, we need to start thinking about the 2009
calendar. I&amp;#39;d like to suggest we focus on PHP/OSS best practices in a
production environment. Some ideas might look like:

	UAT best practices - Test Driven Development (PHPunit, etc.) and continuous integration

	PHP Training (beginner, intermediate) and coding standards

	Design patterns

	Source control in action (Subversion, Mantis, etc.)

	High traffic PHP part II

	PHP IDE bake-off

	Security lock-down (PHP on Apache, IIS)

	SOA and Open Source

If you would like to present one of these topics or have other ideas, please visit the log in (left) and provide your comments below .
