Postgre, MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle - 2005/05/26 16:42

Well someone had to start this up.

Which do you guys prefer and why?

I prefer MySQL because it's (in my opinion) the most popular (atleast with hosting companies) and easy to use. I've been using it for 6 years or so and never had a problem yet, even cross-platform.

Ok, your turn!

Re:Postgre, MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle - 2005/06/23 02:07 Alright, I'll jump in. I like MySQL also, but would love to hear folks thoughts on speed, scalability, etc. on MySQL vs. Postgre. Anyone?

Re:Postgre, MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle - 2007/09/19 11:37 I'm a MySQL guy. With features in Version 5 such as stored procedures and triggers, MySQL is really making a push at Postgre and even Oracle. The reason I prefer MySQL is because I think it has the best community, and moving forward it will eventually surpass Postgre in performance and functionality. I have limited experience with MSSQL, and I am not a fan.

Does anyone have experience with MySQL clusters? Seems like a pretty cool thing.
